Hello all! I hope you’re having a happy Saturday! Let’s jump right into Penguin Pointers day 5, letter E. Steve and I have had a dream that one day we will own an RV and travel all over the USA exploring all the beauty and history and weirdness that is this country. It’s a really nice dream. ❤
The type of exploring I’m talking about here though is a little more broad.
This was one of the most important things I had to give myself permission to do when I started my journey to (re) finding myself after I raised my son. I had no idea after being a stay at home mom for 18 years what the hell I even liked never mind what I wanted to pursue. The last time I had had that kind of freedom I was 23 years old. That girl and this woman are VERY different. (Clubbing just seemed like a bad idea. 😉 ) So it took some time to find my place and to do that I had to be open to exploring many different avenues.
One of the worst feelings is to be labeled and put in a box. Sad thing is we often do it to ourselves. We feel the pressure to be or do something because those are the expectation we have had put on us or even placed on ourselves. We all have to free ourselves from those expectation and allow ourselves to explore all our options before deciding anything about our lives.
I’ve written before about being a walking contradiction and that’s the best way to describe me. I don’t make sense to many people but that’s because I am not ever going to put myself in a box. I am all kinds of things wrapped up in one person and I figured that out by being open to exploring everything that interested me and even some things that didn’t.
We are all walking contradictions in our own way and that’s what makes us interesting and challenging and valuable and awesome.
Give yourself permission to try new things. Fill your personal resume up with experiences. Go out and live life, enjoy life and explore!
