Penguin Pointers – Yes

penguinpointersyes

Only two more Penguin Pointers in this series! Let’s get on with it and talk about Y.Β

Y=Yes

Living in our safe space is a double edge sword of sorts. Who doesn’t want to feel safe? Who doesn’t enjoy the comfort of the known? I think we all do. Problem is, we can get stuck. We can feel stagnant. We can get bored or antsy andΒ at time have a feeling of restlessness that we can’t even explain to ourselves.

I’m never going to be the kind of person who says Yes to everything offered up. I’m very comfortable at home in my flannel jammie pants watching Netflix or snuggled up with Vivi.

But even for someone like me…there are still so many opportunities to say yes. To expand my knowledge. To be curious and learn something new. To try to push the boundaries I’ve set up for myself. To expand on interests.

Getting out of our comfort zone and saying yes to new things is vital to our personal growth and truly the only way to continue that growth for our entire lives.

I’m not ready to sit down and claim to be the best me that I can be today…and I don’t think I ever will be…I hope not anyway. I hope that I live the rest of my life pushing myself to keep growing…and that all starts with saying Yes.

Thanks for reading~

  1. Awesome post Nikki and perfect for heading into a new year. For me stepping out of my comfort zone, taking on more and not being afraid of taking risks is top of my list in 2017. Happy new year to you my friend. xo 😊

    1. Thank you Miriam. It’s at the top of my list as well. People don’t seem to understand that what might feel like a risk to one person…may be common practice to another. It’s such a personal thing…well…like most things I guess. ❀ Here's to 2017! ❀

  2. Nikki, another great post with LOTS of inspiration. What I particularly loved is that you allow room both for feeling comfortable and also for taking risks … that both are ok and you are inviting yourself to do the “yes” thing more often. What a compassionate, gentle and strong way of being with yourself. I love that! Blessings for an awesome 2016 / 17 celebration! Loving to you and Steve & to all of your blog followers — Debbie

    1. I truly am a work in progress. I was just telling Steve that by doing this series I’ve really learned a lot about what I think is important. The thing is, I don’t DO all of these things easily. So this has sort of pushed me to think about what I really believe and how I can incorporate it into my life. It’s been an interesting experiment so to speak! πŸ˜‰ ❀

  3. Hi Nikki! So glad to have discovered your blog- I’ve been poking around and finding it so inspiring. The metaphor you used about penguins flying through water is absolutely beautiful. What a creative blog name! Saying “yes” more often is something I’m looking forward to in 2017 and I’m also looking forward to reading more of your blog. All the best!

  4. I just found your blog on the meet and greet post and I want to say this is super creative! Taking a letter and choosing a word then expanding on that as a series is really cool!
