Penguin Personified – A Cornered Gurl

Today I am introducing a new series…Penguin Personified! Each week I will put the spotlight on a blog that I think rocks, but also walks the walk so to speak. My mission here at Flying Through Water is to create a world of Penguins! Before you click away because you think I’ve clearly lost it….Click the link and see if you can buy into what I’m selling: Welcome To Flying Through Water

The readers digest version:

Penguins have little stubby legs. So short that they have to waddle about.  As we all know…they march hundreds of miles on those little buggers. They do the best they can with what they have.  They also have wings, but they can’t fly. Why? Because their little wings are stubby too.

But here’s the thing…here’s the magic.  Put that same waddling-no flying-penguin in the water and she SOARS!  Watching a penguin swim is like watching her fly through water. THIS is where that little one excels.  She makes due in some areas using sheer determination…because that’s life…but she has found her place to shine.

Flying Through Water is a reminder that we all have greatness inside us. We just have to find it.  The goal of this blog is to challenge ME…and YOU to shake things up….break free of our comfort zones and LIVE our lives to fullest.

Kicking things off…I want to talk about Tre from A Cornered Gurl and A Woman. Her Dog. Their Journey.

Between her two blogs, Tre offers something for everyone. She is a phenomenal poet/writer. At A Cornered Gurl you will be swept away into a world where words leave you breathless. She is THAT good. I enjoy poetry, but I’m not an expert on the topic.  What I am an expert on is something that makes me feel. You know…when something reaches down into your soul and stirs things up. That moment after you read something or hear something and it leaves you speechless…you just do one of those looooong sighs and the smallest of ‘ahhh’s’ because that’s all you can muster. That’s talent.

Tre has that.  She gifts us with words daily and I for one am thankful for that.

If poetry isn’t your thing or you just want to  get a peek into the life of Tre and her beloved Jernee, you can check out… A Woman. Her Dog. Their Journey. If you’re a dog lover you will not be disappointed. Jernee has personality for days and the face of an angel. She is the queen of side-eye and hearing about her antics from Tre will leave you with a smile on your face. Tre shares bits of their life along with inspiration, motivation and even some photography. Spending time there makes you feel like you’re visiting a friend for a cup of coffee. It’s just goodness.

One more note about Tre. She is a huge part of this/my community here at WordPress. She’s been supportive and encouraging to me and my blog pretty much since I started. But here’s the thing…I see her avatar all over WP. She is actively supporting so many of us! Her kindness and involvement here is something we should be so grateful for. I know I am.

Thank you Tre for being a Penguin Personified!

and Thanks for Reading~

  1. Nikki, where do I begin? First, your description of penguins and how they are just like us in many ways is terrific. Then, your idea of highlighting one blog post…this is true confessions, here. When bloggers highlight multiple posts in one blog, I don’t always get to read every one. There, I said it. I think your idea of one is great thing. Finally, I am ready to read your poet blogger. Thank you!

I saw a few new names like some posts and I thought, “wow, these tags must be a hot topic!” Nope, it’s you! Haha! Thank you and I look forward to learning about other Writers featured weekly here at your spot! *big hugs*
